About Me

Welcome to my site! I’m a Japanese native, originally from Nara—an ancient capital of Japan rich in history and tradition. Currently, I live in the UK with my British husband (who, true to his roots, is a massive potato lover!) and our child.

My Background & Expertise

  • Qualified Japanese Language Teacher: I hold a formal qualification to teach Japanese as a foreign language.
  • Former English-Japanese interpreter with a degree in International Relations : I also love speaking Mandarin.
  • Cross-Cultural Experience: Growing up in Japan and now raising a family in the UK gives me a unique perspective on both cultures.

Why I Started This Website

Becoming a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Japan was always my dream. While living in the UK means I cannot guide people through the streets of Nara in person, this website is my “online gateway” to Japan.

As a full-time mum and part-time Japanese teacher, my schedule is busy, but I am dedicated to using my spare moments to share authentic Japanese culture and language with the world. This site is my way of making that lifelong dream a reality.

What You Will Find Here

I don’t just share textbook grammar. I provide real-life perspectives on:

  • Japanese Language: Nuances that only a native teacher and former interpreter can explain.
  • Cultural Insights: Deep dives into traditions and daily life, compared with my experiences living abroad.
  • Authentic Connections: Practical advice for those who are truly curious about the heart of Japan.
